The Panamint Swallowtail is found predominately inside the protected Death Valley National Monument area of Eastern California. Although there are rumored to be a few places to collect it outside of the park boundaies, legally-collected specimens are quite rare. Intergrade indra
populations with nearly 100% panamintansis genes may also be found in mountain ranges near the preserve. Unfortunately, poached specimens are said to ocassionally turn-up for sale on international black markets.
